Prevention of major accidents

The aim of Directive 96/82/EC (Seveso II Directive) is to prevent major accidents involving certain dangerous substances and to limit their consequences for humans and the environment.

Seveso III Directive: new features introduced

CLP classification and natural scenarios

Directive 2012/18/EU (Seveso III Directive), while not substantially modifying the obligations of operators and the related control system by the competent authorities, introduces significant innovations, such as the classification of substances and mixtures aligned with CLP Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008, the obligation to assess, among the possible accidental scenarios, also those deriving from natural events, etc.
